Close your eyes for just a few moments and try to remember some of your favourite toys from your childhood. There are powerful childhood memories that are attached to the “things” that were important to us as children. If you can remember these things, you will be flooded with the smells, the sounds, the emotions, the faces and the places of your childhood. Memories are SO powerful! Isn’t that what photography is all about…creating memories? A way to record “history” – a visual reminder that will someday re-connect us with everything that influenced and shaped us to become who we are today. Unbeknownst to us, Sterling decided to take our Canon G11 for a test drive. What a fantastic surprise he left for us! Here is the photo exploration through the eyes of our 3 year old. He was able to capture his “favourite things”…his toys, his home, his brother…and a self portrait. I hope he can look back on these images years from now and remember this stage of his life. Although he has yet to learn “technique”, he is well on his way to successfully documenting “stories of life and love”.
XOXO Trish
P.S. – take pictures everyday – you never know how important those precious memories will be to you years down the road.
Pps. Here is a look back to Sterling’s start as a photographer.
