Big Brothers and Sisters of Ingersoll and Tillsonburg

Battle of the hors doeuvres

Judges Jonathan and Cynthia Collins

In November we were invited to the 1st annual Big Brothers and Sisters of Ingersoll, Tillsonburg and Area’s Battle of the Hors d’oeuvres and Charity Auction.  Of course Trish brought her camera along to record the event for our friends at BBBS.  We had heard that there was going to be two celebrity judges by the names of  Jonathan and Cynthia Collins attending.  What we didn’t know was that we would be sitting beside them at their table and had the opportunity to hear their success story first hand and listen to Jonathan talk so passionately about family and business.  What amazed me was how they have worked so hard together from teenagers to get to where they are today all the while starting a family of 4 with one more on the way (which we hope to have the opportunity to photograph on his or her arrival.  Hint, hint).  I could really relate to when he explained how you have to put yourself out there, sometimes out of your comfort zone, to achieve your goals, and don’t be afraid to ask for what you want in life.  It’s not just going to knock on your door.  Great advice Jonathan!

Here is the back ground on Jonathan and Cynthia.  They graduated from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu, Ottawa, an affliate of Paris France school in 2006.  They were the Chef de Cuisine for the Prime Minister of Canada, 24 Sussex Drive from 2006-2009.  While working at 24 Sussex Drive they cooked for President Obama.  Operated their own catering company from 2006 to 2008.  Owned Shutters on the Beach from 2008 to 2010.  Chef de Cuisine for Galen and Hillary Weston at their private residence in Florida. So what next for such an exciting family?  The Collins Family Project!  Check it out. Maybe you will see it on a food channel some day?  Please join their facebook group here to show your support and follow Jonathan on twitter @jonathancollins.

Our clients who know us well know what huge foodies Trish and I are.  So this was a fun night for us and a pleasure to meet Jonathan and Cynthia.  We hope to see you again soon.
