A short time ago we had the pleasure of photographing three professional photographers and their BUMPS in one week. It’s always an honour to be asked to photograph your peers at such an important stage in their lives. At this point we have 2 wonderful boys (Sterling 3, and Tristan 1) and it’s a perfect number of children for us. They proved to be SPEED Bumps for us. Sterling slowed us down, from a business point of view, tremendously. When Tristan came along we were definitely more prepared to keep business going. In fact, I think Trish was back to work three days later, shot a wedding two weeks later and 16 hour birth three weeks later. That’s the wonderful truth about being self employed where we both work in the same business.
For Jennifer Vanroboys-Marsh our first photographer, who owns PhotoJennic. Lots is just the right amount of kids (this is number 5). And I do believe they are NOT speed bumps to her. I think she slowed down for about a minute and then was back doing what she loves. Meeting people and taking their portraits.
Amie Leigh Nancekivell is a young budding photographer that we have been mentoring for a while now. She owns Amie Leigh Artistry right here in Ingersoll. This is her first pregnancy and I’m glad to see she is taking some time off this summer to spend with her newborn. (photos to come) This SPEED Bump is going to slow her down a bit as she grows into being a great Mom. I definitely see more in the future for her. We’re curious to watch how becoming a mom will reflect in her artistry.
Last, but not least, is Pam Wideman. Pam started out as a Fanshawe College co op student that then worked for us for about two years and has grown into a great photographer. She owns Pamela Wideman Photography. This is her second SPEED Bump and I know she is well prepared. Gavin, her first, has given her lots of practice. Newborn photos will be posted soon!
