As Trish was half way through her Sunday Outdoor Christmas Card Photo Day she started to notice more and more people and trucks pulling up that were obviously not there to have their portrait taken.  After some investigation, she discovers that our clients, the Eisen’s, and their staff were there to plant trees in Smith’s Pond.  The Eisen’s, who own the Ingersoll Home Centre, along with other Home Hardware stores across the province, applied for a grant that they personally have successfully secured for the last five years.  No other Home Hardware store has managed this and they are one of three stores in Ontario to receive the grant this year!  This grant enabled them to plant 80 trees in Smith’s Pond Park this year.  To help them with the task they partnered with Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and Tree Canada.  Upper Thames River Conservation Authority played a key role in sourcing out the specific species that were native to the area and the locations that they should be planted in.  In a conversation with Karen Pugh of UTRCA she conveyed how excited she was to be partnered with the Eisen family and Home Hardware as they choose to enhance the efforts of the Rotary Clubs new Pavillion in Smith’s Pond.  UTRCA’s slogan is “Inspire a Healthy Environment”  and the Eisen Family and staff of the Ingersoll Home Centre are definitely doing their part in our community.  Tree Canada supplied the funds and Ed Borszon, of Tree Canada, was also on hand to plant some trees.
